Navigating Your Immigration Medical Exam at GoodLife Medical Center

ree

The immigration medical exam is a required step for anyone applying for lawful permanent residence. At GoodLife Medical Center in Memphis, our goal is to make this process as clear and stress-free as possible while ensuring compliance with USCIS requirements.

What Is the Immigration Medical Exam?

The immigration medical exam is a legal requirement for individuals seeking a Green Card or adjustment of status. The exam verifies that an applicant does not pose a public health risk due to specific medical conditions or gaps in vaccinations. The exam must be completed by a USCIS designated Civil Surgeon and the results must be reported on Form I 693.

Why Choose GoodLife Medical Center for Your Exam?

At GoodLife you receive expert guidance and compassionate support throughout the process. Here’s what we offer:

• USCIS certified Civil Surgeon on staff• Transparent pricing with insurance options• Flexible scheduling including same week appointments• Onsite vaccinations and lab orders for ease and speed• A friendly team that helps with paperwork and follow up.

How to Prepare for Your First Appointment

To ensure a smooth experience bring the following:

• A government issued ID such as a passport or driver license• Completed and unsigned Form I 693 (fill Part 1 only)• Your vaccination history with translation if needed• Insurance card when applicable

What to Expect at the First Visit

At the initial appointment, the team will:

• Verify your identity and collect documents• Compare your vaccination record with USCIS requirements• Issue lab orders for tests like tuberculosis, syphilis and gonorrhea• Advise if any vaccines or titers are needed• Process your payment

Typical cost is $425 for insured patients and $550 for those without insurance. This includes labs and form processing.

After the First Visit

You will receive your lab results in approximately five to seven business days. A team member will review results and touch base about next steps. If everything is in order, your second visit can be scheduled. If follow up testing or vaccination is needed, we guide you through that too.

What Happens at the Second Visit

At your follow up appointment the Civil Surgeon will:

• Conduct a comprehensive physical exam including medical and mental health review• Review your immunization and lab results• Complete Form I 693 and sign it• Seal the form in an envelope as per USCIS instructions• Provide a copy for your records.

What You Receive at Completion

After your exam you will walk away with:

• A sealed Form I 693 envelope ready for USCIS submission• A copy of the completed form for your files• Confidence that the exam and paperwork are handled correctly.

Important USCIS Policy Updates

Since December two thousand twenty four USCIS requires that the immigration medical form be submitted with your adjustment of status application to avoid rejection.

As of June two thousand twenty five Form I 693 is only valid while Form I 485 remains pending. If your application is withdrawn or denied you must submit a new medical form.

Expert Backing That Sets Us Apart

Civil Surgeons are medical doctors designated by USCIS to perform immigration medical exams under CDC guidelines. They have specific training and must follow technical instructions closely including proper sealing and submission procedures.

Immigration medical screening protects public health and ensures people with certain communicable diseases or incomplete vaccinations are identified.

Want to avoid delays? Bring all documents and medication history. Fill out Part one of Form I 693 before arrival. Schedule early, especially if you have an upcoming interview or deadline. Allow time for labs and potential follow-up.
